General Speech, Language, & Literacy Evaluations

Each evaluation we complete is tailored to your specific child and what you are concerned about. We look at a child’s speech, language, and literacy skills through both informal and formal measures. You won’t find a quick 1-hour evaluation session here like other places may provide. We take the time to really know your child and get a complete picture of their skills. This means that we may administer standardized assessments that allow us to help diagnose a child. We also administered non-standardized (informal) assessment tasks to figure out what a child can do in more real-life situations. Both are important to get a complete picture of a child’s strengths and weaknesses.

The length of the evaluation session varies depending on the concerns for each child, but it can be anywhere from 1.5 to 3.5 hours long.

After the assessments are administered, we take the time to go over the findings, diagnosis, recommendations and what it all means in understandable terms. We also put all that information together in a professional formal report writeup and provide that to you within a week.
